about what his formal investigation had revealed. Not only had Chantelle been lying but so had Lizzie. She had unsuccessfully tried to cover up the fact that Sam had not only pulled Loga out through the broken window but he had also managed to snatch Emily off the burning floor as well.
Emily was taken in by Ron and Alice Placket and brought-up as one of their own on the outskirts of town. When Emily was old enough to go to school she was also wonderfully cared for by Lizzie and Sam. Sadly, Lizzie had never been able to have her own children so Emily was a source of great joy for her.
Then, when Lizzie was taken ill, Emily was shared out again to the Shepherd family.
Jessica Shepherd grew up to be a true leader for the town. Unaware of why she was so driven to make it a better place, she helped to bring the Trans-Labrador Highway and the Regional Airport to Wild Bay. She most generously paid for Richard to come out.
The Community Hall was once again packed out. It was the Closing Ceremony and curiously there were many strangers on the stage. The Mayor introduced Cpl. Ian Dawson, R.C.M.P. to the assembly as someone who had been doing a lot of work behind the scenes with the rest of his Unit on the town's behalf.
Dawson was economical with his words,
"Ladies and Gentlemen I am here to inform you that the guilty parties in the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths of John Jones Jeffrey and Emily Jeffrey have now been apprehended, charged and are awaiting trial in St John's. I would like to thank everybody who has helped us with our inquiries with a special vote of thanks from the R.C.M.P. to Mr Richard Ap Meurig for his invaluable assistance.”
